Blue Protocol, an upcoming free-to-play online role-playing game developed by Bandai Namco, had its western publishing rights picked up by Amazon Games, the company said at the Game Awards. In the latest trailer, we get a glimpse of the game’s gorgeous cel-shaded landscape and some of the playable characters, weaponry, and classes.
It’s an action role-playing game that supports both solo and multiplayer sessions. A total of 30 other players will join you in raids, it seems.
Blue Protocol will be available for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 5 and is optimized for controller play with the aim help for those who prefer not to use a mouse and keyboard.
Specifically, there will be separate control sliders for each class that can be used to facilitate more natural gameplay. In terms of fashion, it appears like you’ll have a great deal of leeway in choosing your character’s haircut, clothing, accessories, and even horses.
At launch, you’ll have a total of five playable classes to choose from. In addition to the Blade Warden’s sword and shield, the Twin Striker’s double axes are very effective at close range, and the Keen Strider’s bow can do significant damage over large areas. The Foe Breaker is equipped with a big hammer and can even fire a short-range cannonball, and the Spell Weaver is your magic user. Somehow.

Although the entire story will be free to experience in 2022, there will be optional in-game purchases of cosmetic enhancements and ostensibly helpful functions. I get the impression that the free-to-play action role-playing game Genshin Impact served as a source of inspiration
. This game has been a massive success around the world and has made its developers a lot of money. It will be interesting to see how the new game from Bandai Namco stacks up. This partnership with Amazon Games is also rare.
The press release states that Blue Protocol is the “latest title in Amazon Games’ portfolio of high-quality live service games,” which would presumably include New World, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. If you’re looking for technical advice to keep Blue Protocol running properly, maybe Amazon Games can help.
The release of the game has been pushed back to the second half of 2023, however, a closed beta is expected to begin early in the coming year. The registration process for it will soon be available online.
