The road was closed by police so the athletes could depart without incident. Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs remained behind to be with Hamlin because of “how much he needed to be here.”
1:48 a.m. ET – After the collision on the field, Hamlin went into cardiac arrest, later confirmed by additional tests at the hospital. A statement from the NFL indicates that his condition has not improved. The NFL decides to postpone the Bills-Bengals game at 10:05 p.m. ET. As a result of the collapse of Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has decided to postpone tonight’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, the league stated.
At 9:28 p.m. ET, both teams’ players made their way carefully to the locker rooms, where they waited to hear the latest on Hamlin and the game. Hamlin was given oxygen in an ambulance at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center at about 9:25 p.m. ET. Hamlin’s mom, watching the game from the grandstand, came down to sit with him.
