With its compelling story, the animated series Arcane, which debuted in November 2021, quickly became a major hit for Netflix (and one hell of a cliffhanger ending).
It even took home an Emmy in September 2022 for Outstanding Animated Program, so if you haven’t already, you should definitely add it to your watch list.
Arcane Season 2 Release Date: When Will It Air?
The show’s production started in November 2021, as Netflix indicated at the time, but for the time being, all we can do is wait. And according to Kevin Alejandro, some early season two voice acting actually occurred during lockdown (via Buzzfeed).
“It was incredibly intriguing and difficult when season two partially began during the pandemic. Therefore, they [the Arcane crew] sent a whole studio setup, complete with soundproof walls, cameras, mics, and instructions on how to set it up. I would then Zoom out of my closet and begin recording our lines for the upcoming season.”
However, it will be difficult to hasten a six-year procedure; as a result, please wait until at least 2023 before expecting it (at the earliest).
“We’re beyond delighted about the fantastic reception to Arcane’s first season,” the show’s co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee said in a statement. “And we’re working hard with the creative magicians at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second instalment.”

Arcane Season 2 Cast: Who Will Be In It?

Arcane Season 2 Plot: What Will Happen?
If you watched the Arcane season 1 finale, you know that some characters might not return for the next season. This is due to the fact that Piltover’s council chamber, which was imprisoned inside, was hit by Jinx’s arcane crystal rocket. Jayce, Mel, Viktor, Cassandra, Hoskel, Bolbok, Shoola, and Salo were in the chamber when the rocket exploded.
We don’t anticipate that everyone will live. At the absolute least, Mel and Cassandra will have died or suffered grave injuries, in our opinion. Fans speculate that will be the case on Reddit(opens in new tab), with some saying that an animation frame from season 2 that was seen in Bridging the Rift episode 3 may have revealed Cassandra dies.
It seems strange that Riot and Fortiche would reveal this story detail ahead of time, but perhaps they did so on purpose to see whether anyone noticed. Unless it’s a deleted scene, it doesn’t appear to be a frame from season 1, therefore this could be our first glimpse of Arcane season 2.
Jayce and Caitlyn would have a strong motivation to go after Jinx if Mel and Cassandra perished in the explosion because they are Jayce’s partner and Caitlyn’s mother, respectively. Jayce may later break his vow to grant Zaun its independence from Piltover, particularly in light of the terrorist attack’s perpetrator Jinx having been a citizen of Zaun.
Furthermore, if Caitlyn’s mother were harmed or killed, she might seek retribution, which would put her at odds with Vi, a close friend of Caitlyn’s. Since the latter is Jinx’s sister, Vi will probably find herself in a catch-22 between working with Caitlyn and Jayce to prosecute her sister and trying to save Jinx from herself, which would put her at odds with the other two.
