Saw X Release Date: When Can We Expect This Season?

The Book of Saw was slated for a sequel, but the next, and potentially final, installment in the Saw franchise will be Saw X, which will see audiences return to the original Jigsaw’s story once and for all – with Tobin Bell along for the gore-filled trip once more.

In 2004, filmmaker James Wan made his directorial debut with Saw, a unique picture with a shocking twist that spawned nine films, including the spin-off Spiral. Saw X, the franchise’s eleventh installment, will be released in 2023.

Spiral received mixed reviews, as has been the case with previous Saw films. With each subsequent sequel, the Saw franchise’s quality and audience dwindled. However, Jigsaw’s numerous traps remain a feature of the horrific series, and many fans have stayed with Saw until the conclusion.

Only two years after the last Saw film, the seemingly inconceivable Saw X has a release date. Presumably, James Wan wants to end the Saw franchise on a high note, and here’s everything we know about Saw X.

Saw 10 Release Date

Saw Ten will hit theaters on September 29, 2023. While an initial release date of October 27 was announced earlier this year, the 10th installment in the series has now been pushed back. It will now be released in theaters globally a month ahead of schedule.

Saw X Release Date

Kevin Greutert, who previously directed Saw VI and Saw 3D, also known as Saw: The Final Chapter, will handle it. The former had the finest reviews since the original but earned the least money, while the latter was not the spectacular send-off promised from the start.

This release date also means that Saw 10 will be released on the same day as the next Paw Patrol film.

Saw 10 officially Titled Saw X

Saw X is the official title of the tenth installment in the Saw franchise.

Lionsgate’s new movie logo, which has the title in the franchise’s signature dirty, scratched-out front, was debuted at CinemaCon 2023 and posted by Collider.

Saw 10 Cast

Tobin Bell, the original Jigsaw, will reprise his role in Saw 10. On July 21, fans got their first official peek at Bell’s return when Saw’s social media outlets shared the first screenshot from the upcoming sequel.

However, prior to this official look, early set images of the star on the set of the sequel, which you can see below:

“What a thrill to be reuniting with Tobin,” producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules stated, according to One Take News. His portrayal as John Kramer made this franchise a success, and his character plays an active role in this film.”

Shawnee Smith, who played Amanda in the original three Saw films (and featured in archive material in the subsequent episodes), will also reprise her role.

Because Spiral is a spinoff, we’re unlikely to see Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, or Max Minghella. However, expecting Cary Elwes to reprise his role as Dr. Lawrence Gordon wouldn’t be too far-fetched.

Other actors who have been confirmed for the cast in currently undisclosed roles include:

  • Michael Beach
  • Synnøve Macody Lund
  • Steven Brand
  • Renata Vaca
  • Paulette Hernandez
  • Octavio Hinojosa
  • Joshua Okamoto

Saw 10 Plot Details: What is Saw X about?

As previously reported and later confirmed by the production studio, Saw X is scheduled between Saw and Saw II. After this in-between chapter, fans can expect another gruesome tale of John ‘Jigsaw’ Kramer.

As we all know, the renowned and ruthless killer was dying of cancer. Jigsaw will be seen by Saw X traveling to Mexico hoping that an experimental operation may cure him. However, the process is soon shown to be a fraud, prompting him to go on another deliberately gruesome murder rampage on the scammers.

According to Bloody Disgusting, other narrative information and characters are being kept under wraps, but “fans can be assured that the new film will capture their hearts – and other body parts – with all-new twisted, ingenious traps and a new mystery to solve.”

Meanwhile, Lionsgate teased, “The return of Tobin Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of creating a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”

“We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love,” stated Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules.

“Part of that is entrusting the project to Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI, which remains one of the series’ fan favorites.” More information will be released soon.”

Given the poor reaction of Jigsaw and Spiral, with the former extending Jigsaw’s origins and the latter taking place years after the “final chapter,” it wouldn’t be surprising to see Saw 3D pick up where Saw 3D left off.

After numerous movies of seeing Matt Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) wreak havoc, The Final Chapter finished with him being apprehended by a secret third apprentice: Dr. Lawrence Gordon, who left him for dead in the same toilet from the first film.
