Fairborn Car Accident: In charge of Fairborn City Schools, Gene Lolli, said that the driver died in a crash in Beavercreek Twp. Late Friday morning was a student at Fairborn High School. The driver was killed in the collision at Dayton-Xenia Road and Trebein Road.
Neither the state troopers nor the district has officially named the driver. At 11:50 a.m., a Volkswagen Beetle and a dump truck got into an accident. State troopers said in a press release Friday afternoon that a preliminary investigation showed the Beetle was going east on Dayton-Xenia Road when it entered the intersection and was hit by a dump truck going south on Trebein Road.
On the spot, the driver was said to be dead. Her name was not made public until her family was told and the investigation was finished. Two other people in the car, who were only known to be kids, were taken to local hospitals, but their conditions were not publicized.
No one knew if the teens who were hurt went to Fairborn High School or if they went to a school in another district. For the investigation, the intersection was closed until about 2:30 p.m. A district spokesperson said in a social media post that all evening and weekend activities at Fairborn schools were canceled after the student’s death.
“Due to the sad death of a Fairborn High School student, Gene Lolli, the superintendent of Fairborn Schools, has canceled all evening and weekend events planned for this weekend. Once we have more information, the district will tell us about counseling services and other ways to help,” the spokesperson said.
In a separate post on social media, Lolli said that grief counselors and other support staff would be at the school on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturday night, there will be a prayer service with candles.
