Francis Ford Coppola Responds: Francis Ford Coppola, the renowned filmmaker of The Godfather, commented on rumors about the expanding budget of his most recent movie, Megalopolis.
On the Megalopolis set in Atlanta, Coppola spoke with Deadline about recent claims of numerous production issues on the set of his science-fiction epic. The study described the turnover in the visual effects and art departments as being in “peril,” “ballooning budget,” “staff exodus,” and “chaos,” which Coppolla refuted.
The director said that firing the VFX crew was part of his strategy for controlling the $100 million budget for the picture. At the same time, creative differences allegedly brought on the art department’s departure.
