On Tuesday, a Huntsville Police Department (HPD) officer was killed, and another was gravely injured while responding to shots fired call.
The shooting occurred on Governors House Drive at the Governors House Apartments.
HPD says the officers answered the ‘shots fired’ call around 4:45 p.m. When officers arrived, a female victim was located.
The two responding cops were shot at the site by an offender and were taken to Huntsville Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where one officer died.
Attorney General Steve Marshall named that officer Garrett Crumby. Albert Morin, the injured cop, was also identified by Marshall.
HPD Chief Kirk Giles said the other officer underwent emergency surgery and remained in critical condition at 10 p.m. The female shooting victim is at the hospital receiving treatment.
