Kanye West and Kim Kardashian Divorce: It can be challenging (and not a little depressing) to follow recent events in Kanye West’s life. The most recent development, however, is comparatively unimportant in terms of West headlines: Ye’s divorce from his ex-wife Kim Kardashian has been formally finalized. The primary headline-grabbing information is that Kanye will give Kim $200,000 per month in child support.
Although the divorce settlement terms call for both Kardashian and West to have “equal access” to their four children, sources close to the couple claim that Kardashian will spend most of their time with the children, a fact that West has acknowledged. He mentioned his relationship with the mother of his children in a podcast interview from back in September, estimating that she would have the children for about “80% of the time”:

“Even to this day, I’ll still give Kim advice on things that can help because that will go to the kids. She’s still got [them] 80% of the time — raise those children.”
West’s $200,000 in child support does not cover his obligation to pay for half of the children’s educational costs or half of their personal security. The agreement also includes a provision for resolving any potential parenting conflicts: in such cases, West and Kardashian both agree to attend a mediation session, and if one doesn’t, the other gets to make the decision.
The settlement reportedly complies with West and Kardashian’s prenuptial agreement and addresses how their property will be divided. Additionally, neither party may provide spousal support under the terms of their prenuptial agreement. Across the street from the estate they formerly shared, Kanye has agreed to give Kim a house that he infamously bought for $4.5 million after their divorce. A move that some deemed stalker-like or disturbing.
After more than a year of conflict between the former couple, during which West refused to cooperate with the divorce process, a settlement was reached. Kim’s patience was tested, but she handled the situation calmly, and, in the end, Kanye changed his mind, a source told TMZ.
The West-Kardashian marriage is now formally over, and their divorce has been resolved.
