Legally Blonde 3: Release Date, Cast, Plot (Catchy Updates)!

Legally Blonde is getting a third installment! So get ready to “bend and snap” again, because Reese Witherspoon is going to play Elle Woods again.

People first saw the pink-clad, Chihuahua-carrying sorority girl in the first Legally Blonde movie, which came out in 2001 and was an instant hit. Elle is the main character in this comedy.

Warner Huntington III, played by Matthew Davis, dumped her because he thought she wasn’t serious enough. She goes to Harvard Law School, where Warner also goes, to win him back and show him that he was wrong.

The movie did very well, making over $141 million around the world. This made Reese one of the most popular actors of the decade.

In the 2003 movie Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde, Elle, who is now a lawyer, move to Washington, DC to fight for animal rights and for Bruiser’s Law, which bans testing cosmetics on animals.

Legally Blonde 3 Release Date

MGM said at first that Legally Blonde 3 would come out in May of this year, which would make it one of the most anticipated movies of 2022.

But the movie has been pushed back indefinitely, so we don’t know when we’ll see Elle Woods again.

Legally Blonde 3 Story

Details about the plot are still kept very secret. The third part is being written by Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project) and Dan Goor, who helped make Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Mindy told Access Hollywood in an interview, “I can’t wait to hear what people think of Elle Woods at 40 as we wrote it. It’s been a lot of fun to think about Elle Woods at age 40 compared to when she was 21.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in November 2021, Pamela Abdy, who works for MGM, was asked what she knew about Legally Blonde 3.

“It’s really happening. Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are now writing the script. Reese Witherspoon will play the lead role. Reese and Lauren Neustadter are making movies with the help of Marc Platt. We’re all putting in work on it. How does Elle Woods look now that she’s 40? Elle is a mother who works and has a good job.”

We also know that Reese, who won an Oscar, is a big fan of giving women strong and empowering roles, and that she has devoted a lot of her work with her own production company, Hello Sunshine, to this cause.

She was on the cover of Time magazine in 2021 because of the good things she had done for the world.

It’s still not clear who will be in the movie with Reese. In the 20-year Legally Blonde reunion video, which you can watch below, all of the actors still had a lot of love for the first movie. We hope this means they’d be up for playing in Legally Blonde 3 if the script allowed it.

  • Matthew Davis (Warner)
  • Ali Larter (Brooke)
