Man from Arkansas Sentenced To 4.5 Years in Jail For Participation in US Capitol Unrest

An Arkansas man who was seen with his feet propped up on a desk in former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the January 6, 2021, attαck on the United States Capitol was sentenced to 4.5 years in jail yesterday.

Richard “Bigo” Barnett, 62, was convicted in January on eight counts linked to the Capitol attαck, four felonies, and four misdemeanors.

“Barnett was found guilty on January 23, 2023, of all charges, including obstruction of an official proceeding, interfering with a police officer during a civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a dangerous or deαdly weapon, (and) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a dangerous weapon, all of which are felonies,”.

One of the most well-known photographs from the Capitol riot is of Barnett in Pelosi’s office.

US District Judge Christopher Cooper remarked that Barnett did not accept responsibility for his acts when he handed down his punishment yesterday.

On January 6, five individuals were ki!!ed in Capitol Hill rioting, severely damaging the Capitol building. In the aftermath, four law enforcement officers committed su*cide.
