Millie Bobby Brown and her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi have announced their engagement.
The Stranger Things star announced the news on Instagram, posting a photo of the two of them with a beautiful engagement ring on her finger.
She captioned the photo with lines from Taylor Swift’s Lover: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.”
Bongiovi, the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, also posted a photo of the two of them with the message “forever.”
The couple started dating in 2021, making it public on Instagram in November of that year before dressing up as Barbie and Ken for Brown’s 18th birthday party the following year.
The 19-year-old had previously discussed growing up in the spotlight as she was 12 when she was cast on the Netflix phenomenon Stranger Things.
Discussing social media criticism last year, she said: “It’s really hard to be hated on when you don’t know who you are yet,” she said. “So it’s like, ‘What do they hate about me? ‘Cause I don’t know who I am.’ It’s almost like, ‘OK, I’m going to try being this today.’ [And then they say], ‘Oh, no, I hate that.’ ‘OK. Forget that. I’m going to try being this today.’ ‘Oh, my God! I hate when you do that.’ Then you just start shutting down because you’re like, ‘Who am I meant to be? Who do they need me to be for them?'”
Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine has also expressed concern about Brown and the show’s young stars.
On The Jonathan Ross Show, he stated: “Over the course of my career, the young actors and actresses whose lives were destroyed by that kind of fame and money and everything. It can be very destructive and disorienting. I just wanted to do everything I could to make sure she was safe and she understood that a career is a rollercoaster, that there’s ups and downs to it.”
