Kirstie Alley, an American actor best known for her roles in “Cheers” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” died at age 71 after battling cancer.
William Stevenson and Lillie Price Stevenson, Kirstie Alley’s children, published a message on their late mother’s social media sites stating that she “died away after a fight with cancer, just recently detected,” according to Page Six, an American entertainment news outlet.
The statement stated, “She fought with incredible strength while surrounded by her closest relatives, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.
“She was a legendary actress but an even better mother and grandma. We appreciate the excellent treatment the Moffitt Cancer Center’s staff of doctors and nurses provided, “It went on.

The siblings reflected on their mother’s “unparalleled enthusiasm and passion for life, her children, grandchildren, and her numerous animals, not to mention her unending joy of creating, leaving us encouraged to live life to the fullest just as she did.”

Kirstie Alley gained notoriety through her role as Rebecca Howe in the NBC sitcom “Cheers” from 1987 to 1993. She has children with Parker Stevenson, to whom she was married from 1983 until 1997. According to Page Six, she won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for this role in 1991.
