It appears like the wait for a new MacBook Pro will just be a short one.
Reporter Mark Gurman claims that the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M2 Pro/M2 Max would be released in November rather than October in his most recent Bloomberg(opens in new tab) newsletter. As a result, Apple’s most recent laptops won’t be unveiled at the same time as the new iPad Pro 2022, which Gurman predicts will be released during the week of October 24.
As Gurman notes in his reporting, these trends are hardly shocking. On October 27, Apple will hold its quarterly results call. Occasionally, the company will time product announcements to roughly correspond with its earnings report. So it wouldn’t be a leap to introduce the iPad Pro along with that call. Apple has also previously released computers in November, with MacBook Pros doing so in both 2019 and 2020.
Gurman’s track record of successful research along with historical trends offers us some confidence for these expected delivery timeframes, albeit it’s not a guarantee.
macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16.1
Along with the new hardware, it is anticipated that later this year, complete compatibility for the new devices will be introduced with the release of macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16.1. Since they were revealed at WWDC 2022, both operating systems have experienced delays, although they now appear to be on schedule.
Expect iPadOS 16.1 to debut alongside the two new iPad Pros, given the anticipated release dates for the new iPad Pro 2022 models. Despite the possibility of a simultaneous release, it appears that macOS Ventura will likely wait until the new MacBook Pro models are shown.

A new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2022) and iPadOS 16.1 should be released this month. Both of these products are anticipated to have the more recent M2 silicon, offering a respectable power bump for Apple’s tablet powerhouses.

Additionally, a 10-inch iPad is expected to launch in 2022, maybe concurrently with the rest of Apple’s tablet models. It will be interesting to see if there is a significant design update for this iPad compared to the iPad Pro’s expected unmodified design as this tablet is rumored to gain a USB-C port and migrate to a design comparable to the iPad Pro.
The new MacBook Pros and macOS Ventura should follow in November. With the exception of replacing the outdated M2 chipset with new M2 Pro and M2 Max silicon, these new MacBook Pros are substantially indistinguishable from the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros (2021).
