The Irish romance will star Pierce Brosnan and Helena Bonham Carter. “Four Letters of Love,” directed by Polly Steele. Based on the best-selling book by Niall Williams, the movie will star Brosnan and Bonham Carter as the parents of destined lovers, played by upcoming actor Fionn O’Shea. (“Dance First”) and Ann Skelly (“The Nevers”). Gabriel Byrne will also star in the film.
A synopsis provided for the film is as follows: “Nicholas Coughlan (O’Shea) and Isabel Gore (Skelly) are fated to be together. The question is whether or not they will ever find out. As ghosts, fate and the sheer power of true love pull Nicholas and Isabel together, so too does life threaten to tear them apart.”
The movie will start filming in February in Northern Ireland with funding from Northern Ireland Screen before travelling to the Republic of Ireland. Before Williams adapted it for the big screen, his 1997 novel had already been published in more than 30 different languages.
Production designer John Leslie, director of photography Damien Elliot, costume designer Susan Scott, hair and makeup artist Natalie Reid, and editor Chris Gill ACE is among the department heads.
