Reese Witherspoon And Jim Toth Decided To Divorce After 12 Years of Marriage

After almost 12 years of marriage, Reese Witherspoon and former CAA agency Jim Toth made their impending divorce public on Friday.

In a joint statement posted to Instagram, Witherspoon, and Toth wrote: “It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together. As we navigate this next chapter, our biggest priority is our son and our entire family. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

The couple married in March 2011 and were ready to mark their 12 years wedding anniversary on Sunday. Tennessee James, their 10-year-old son, is their only child. Ava and Deacon are Witherspoon’s children from her former marriage to Ryan Phillippe.

Toth and Witherspoon met while he was a talent agent at Creative Artists Agency, representing Witherspoon. He quit the agency in 2019 to join the now-defunct streamer Quibi.

Though Witherspoon and Toth kept their relationship relatively discreet, they were involved in a scandal in 2013 when they were detained and briefly incarcerated in Atlanta, Ga. after Toth was pulled over on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Toth was charged with DUI, while Witherspoon was arrested for disorderly behavior. Toth pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI and was ordered to complete community service and an alcohol education program and pay a fine.

In recent years, Witherspoon has become a sought-after producer through her Hello Sunshine label, which has produced notable films and TV programs such as “Gone Girl,” “Big Little Lies,” “The Morning Show,” “Daisy Jones & the Six,” and the Witherspoon-Ashton Kutcher rom-com “Your Place or Mine.”

For $900 million in 2021, Witherspoon sold a portion of the company to Kevin A. Mayer and Tom Staggs’ Blackstone-backed Candle Media.
