Star Trek executives opted to shoot seasons two and three back-to-back to make up for the time lost during the pandemic. Isn’t that a clever idea? ‘Star Trek Picard’ Season 3 Plot: What to Expect?
It was revealed by Patrick Stewart to EW that the Next Generation team will be returning for a third season after the season two finale: They will see us, but it is not a reunion in the traditional sense. This isn’t simply a get-together; it’s a homecoming. I’m only permitted to state that everyone serves a purpose since what’s coming up in season three is something to be excited about. As well as the evolution of the characters we’ve been familiar with for so long.
Stewart did indicate that season three could be the most exciting of all, but he has yet to reveal any concrete story details. I remember thinking, ‘Where the heck are we going to go from here?’ when I read the season two finale for the first time.” Because it appeared that the story was coming to a close.

‘Star Trek Picard’ Season 3 Cast: Who’s Returning In It?
As a result of what happened in season two, we may expect Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, Michelle Hurd as Rafaella “Raffi” Musiker, Evan Evagora as Elnor, and Jerrold Ryan as Seven of Nine to return for Picard season 3. Since recently announcing that Agnes Jurati will not be returning for the final season, Alison Pill is a significant exception.
In an interview with MovieWeb, Pill said, “I know that season three will be the last.” My involvement with season three was limited, so I don’t have much to offer in the way of spoilers. “I’ll be able to enjoy the show with everyone else.” Santiago Cabrera’s involvement is also in doubt, given that Cristobal “Chris” Rios has chosen to remain in the past and live out the remainder of his days there.
Fortunately, some of the most talented actors in the business have been lined up to step in for them. Almost as soon as season two ended, Picard declared that many of the most beloved characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation will return for season three. For example, there’s LeVar Burton (Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge), Michael Dorn (Worf), Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher), Jonathan Frakes (Commander William T. Riker), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi), and Brent Spiner (Dr. Beverly Crusher) (Data).
Actor Burton said: “When I talk about my comeback to the role, I said: There was a lot of fun had by all of us. Having each other around was such a treat. In any case, we’re all really close. As a result of not having been able to come together for Christmas last year and at the beginning of this year because of the conflict, we were all very happy to get together at the end of last year and the beginning of this year” (via TrekMovike.com).
After that, he went on to add that it was a fitting farewell for the cast of The Next Generation. Finally, the season’s main antagonist should not be overlooked. Matalas hinted that the show’s next villain would be a big name, but he wouldn’t reveal any details on who it might be. “It’s a new character,” the show’s producer responded to a Twitter fan who inquired whether the next villain will be a fresh face.

What’s more… In my opinion, you aren’t ready.” Having ruled out Jeffrey Combs, Matalas later revealed that it will be a newcomer to the Trek universe — so start placing your bets.

‘Star Trek Picard’ Season 3 Release Date: When Will It Air?
Because of this, season three began filming directly following season two, which was difficult for everyone involved, but especially so for Patrick Stewart, who played the lead.
