After The Boys season 3 wrapped up in August 2022, season 4 of Amazon’s violent superhero series is already in the works. Since it was renewed, showrunner Eric Kripke and the cast have leaked new casting and narrative information. Along with some brand-new evil supers, Simon Pegg and other well-known actors will return to the show.
You can be confident that the show will continue where it left off in season 3, which included a superpowered brawl between Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), and Homelander.
We’ve gathered everything that has been made public about The Boys season 4, from storyline hints to a potential release date, to help you stay up to date on all the newest information. To get your Compound V to fix, start scrolling.
How Is The Plot Of The Boys Season 4?
The Boys’ season 4’s plot has not yet been announced, but the season 3 conclusion offers a solid indication of what will happen next.
The Boys have reunited and are more committed than ever to their strategy for overthrowing the Supes. However, it appears that Victoria Neuman is now their main adversary. She struck a pact with Homelander, and when The Deep drowned her rivals in the season finale, she won the vice presidential nomination. This puts her in contention to surpass all previous Superpowers, at least politically.
However, Starlight will provide some assistance this time. She tried to alter things from the inside, but she is now firmly on team Butcher and an integral part of the group. And after being left to cope with the fallout from Temp V, he may need all the assistance he can get. Billy will be at grave risk in the upcoming season because of the drug’s effects on his body, according to the advice he has received.
Kripke suggested they’ll be going for Neuman when Butcher only has months to live in an interview with Variety(opens in a new tab) about this twist. They are competing with the DeSantis ticket, the author stated. “He has a crazy ticking clock, which is part of the thrill of entering Season 4, which we are only now working out for this. He still needs to complete a lot of things.”
In addition, the showrunner explained Butcher’s path: “Is Butcher self-aware enough to see that he is responsible for his bad luck? That is the fascinating part of our question about him. Is he self-aware enough to consider whether he is capable of changing? These are a few intriguing discussions we’ve begun for Season 4.”
Homelander comes next. He’s still insane, and it doesn’t seem like much will be able to stop him. Despite the Super lasering a bystander and broadcasting his divisive, toxic beliefs in a national TV address, the Storm Chasers are still staunchly on his side. Ryan, his son, has since joined him after being revealed to the public along with his abilities.
In an interview with IGN(opens in new tab), Kripke teased the potential direction of this plot. “If given the opportunity, he will raise Ryan to become a second Homelander, which will have dire consequences.
He is likely to turn into another Homelander if he continues in that environment, “said Kripke. Therefore, I believe it’s a clue to one of season four’s central tensions: Butcher and Homelander’s dispute over Ryan.
We don’t know if season 4 will include a new primary antagonist. Fortunately, Soldier Boy is still alive after being neutralized. Therefore, when the series comes around, we might see him taken off the ice once more. We bet, though, that Kripke will have a new trick up his sleeve for season 4, as we might encounter someone who can finally stop Homelander once and for all.
How Many Cast Members Are In The Boys Season 4?
The Boys’ cast has expanded significantly over the past three seasons, and almost everyone will return. Before season 4 production begins, we anticipate a few casting announcements in the upcoming months. However, in the interim, we’ve looked at who survived the season 3 finale.
The Boys will be returning. Jack Quaid will play Hughie, Laz Alonso will play Mother’s Milk, Tomer Capone will play Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara will play Kimiko, Erin Moriarty will play Starlight, and Karl Urban will play Billy Butcher.
The Seven have been getting fewer in number, but Homelander has survived. Antony Starr will therefore return along with Chase Crawford’s The Deep, Jessie T Usher’s A-Train, and Colby Minifie as Ashley, the blundering CEO of Vought. After season 3, Homelander also made his son Ryan a star, and the cast roster reflects that: Cameron Crovetti has been promoted to series regular.
Due to the upcoming inauguration of Victoria Neuman as vice president of the United States, Claudia Doumit should return. Paul Reiser, who plays The Legend, and Katy Breieras, who plays The Deep’s now-divorced wife Cassandra, are two more recurring characters that might make a comeback.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the most recent addition to the cast of The Boys. He’ll appear on the program in an unnamed capacity. The actor responded to the news on Twitter(opens in new tab) by saying: “I can’t even express how happy I am! Huge gratitude to @therealKripke, @AMCPlus, and @TheBoysTV for juggling both schedules. No simple task. I HAVE BEEN SO DAMN GLAD!”
Also flying into the new season are two new Supers. As Sister Sage and Firecracker, respectively, Valorie Curry (Detroit: Become Human) and Susan Heyward (Powers) are joining the cast. In October 2022, we received our first glimpse of them, which you can see here.
Upon the advent of the newcomers, author Eric Kripke said: “Some of the best and strangest Supes ever penned for The Boys are these new ones. You will love them. And by love, I mean being utterly terrified and slightly queasy. YOU GUYS ARE WELCOME TO THE FAMILY.”
It is unknown if Giancarlo Esposito will reprise his role as Stan Edgar, the disgraced head of Vought. He hasn’t been seen since Neuman and Homelander expelled him in a pincer movement. Anything is possible for him in season 4, perhaps a cameo or a more prominent part.
After Homelander ruthlessly destroyed Black Noir in the season 3 finale, we assumed that we had probably seen the last of Nathan Mitchell’s character. When talking about the character’s demise, Kripke said that the version of Noir was no longer alive, but he did say Vought might recast him.
According to him, Deadline(opens in new tab): “Without giving anything away, I’ll say that the person who is Black Noir is no longer alive. His organs are all over the place, but when your hero is silent and wearing a mask, it’s not too difficult to recast them.”
He explained this to Entertainment Weekly and said Mitchell would return but in a different form. Kripke clarified: “He will take on the role of another person wearing the Black Noir costume. There is little doubt that Black Noir will return as a hero in the future.
The character who wore [the Noir suit] in season 3 is no longer there. However, Nathan will portray a highly intriguing and amusing character who will wear the costume in the upcoming season.”
After the season 3 finale, the futures of other characters are up in the air. Dominique McElligott, who played Maeve, left the show after her character went into hiding with her girlfriend, Elena. Mallory neutralized the threat posed by Soldier Boy, played by Jensen Ackles, by putting him back on the ice.
It’s conceivable they’ll both come back at some point, according to Kripke. Deadline(opens in new tab) heard him say this: “Without a doubt, Maeve will be back before the season is through. I’m hoping Soldier Boy turns up again.”
He said they were “100%” leaving the door open for Soldier Boy to come back in another interview with Entertainment Weekly. Kripke declared: “Never murder anybody unless you have to, goes the old TV saying. Open a window instead of closing a door. I don’t think the series could come to a finish without Soldier Boy making another appearance, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
As Hughie’s father, Simon Pegg will also return to the program following his appearance in season 3. As Hughie’s mother, Rosemarie DeWitt from Black Mirror has joined the cast. In unconfirmed roles, other newcomers include Rob Benedict (Supernatural) and Elliot Knight (Once Upon a Time).
What Is The Release Date For Season 4 Of The Boys?
The Boys season 4 has not yet received an official release date. The season 3 finale of the show, which was only recently recommissioned in June 2022, aired on July 8, 2022. We might have to wait a while before seeing any new episodes.
While we don’t have any firm information, we’ve done extensive research on previous seasons to attempt and determine when the show will return.

The show’s first and second seasons were separated by a year and a month, followed by a more considerable pause between the second and third, which was prolonged by the coronavirus epidemic. Season 4 might be out any time between July 2023 and March 2024 if it follows the same trend as the previous seasons.
The fact that The Boys is again in production makes it seem likely that fresh episodes will air in the middle or late 2023. Usually, it takes the show 10 to 12 months to reach our televisions after it has started production. Of course, this is now just a guess. We’ll inform you as soon as anything formal is disclosed.
One thing that looks likely is that we’ll see The Boys’ spin-off programme before season 4 breaths of air. The cast of this project, dubbed Gen V, was announced in a special video(opens in a new tab) posted to The Boys’ official social media account.
Although there is no official release date, it is anticipated to be on Prime Video in 2023. The spin-off centers on college-aged Supes who are put to the test in tasks akin to The Hunger Games at a Vought-run university.
Additionally, Kripke hinted that there might be some crossover with The Boy’s main series. He added in a statement to Deadline(opens in new tab): “There is definitely crossover, and we’re working hard to create a universe in which some of the problems and plotlines from Season 3 continue from the first.

In that season, for example, a presidential campaign is taking place in the background, and some events at the school are both in response to Season 3 of The Boys. Soldier Boy, among other things, is present, but some fresh plotlines are developing in that season of the spin-off that we must pick up and continue in Season 4 of the program.” Additionally, there were some cameos in the initial teaser.
