Henning Mankell’s imaginary Inspector Kurt Wallander, played by Henning Mankell, is the subject of a new streaming television series titled Young Wallander. Netflix will premiere the show on September 3, 2020.
Star Because of this, Adam Palsson believes the pre-imagining (ie the present-day setting of Young Wallander), rather than a direct prequel, makes more sense because it allows for deeper societal commentary. Critics have slammed the decision to set the series in the present day.
In November 2020, Netflix renewed the show for a second season, which premiered on February 17, 2022, with the title Killer’s Shadow.

In the unlikely event of a third installment, most or all of these characters will make an appearance. Season 3 Plot of Young Wallander: What Could It Be About?
A year after the events of the first season ended, Kurt is still mourning the loss of Hemberg. In the meantime, authorities are looking into a fatal hit-and-run collision involving Elias Fagar. The death appears to be the result of a drunk driving accident, but it turns out to be a case of intentional murder.
Frida Rusk recalls her first trial for Elias, which took place eight years prior. The present plot takes a look back at the events that occurred in the past. She suspected Elias and his brother of the death of Jurgen Moberg, their morally bankrupt swimming instructor.
There is more to this story, and the killer of Moberg is Amelia Holmgren, the daughter of Edwin Holmgren and a classmate of Elias. In the end, Soren holds a knife to Amelia’s throat and demands that she confess the truth. When she does, Soren is finally able to move on. Amelia cannot be held by the police while they search for Petterson.
The detectives pay a final visit to Hemberg’s grave at the end of the film. The show’s third season, if it happens, might move the story in a new direction while maintaining a connection to the first two seasons. The character of Kurt Wallander is well-known in Swedish and around the world, therefore it’s possible that the show’s writers are open to some fan service.

However, a possible third chapter may focus more on the relationship between Mona and Kurt. We know they broke up soon after, and a third season could confirm this. On the other hand, as indicated in the second season finale, we’ll see if Osei and Frida Rusk revive their romance. It’s likely that Osei and Kurt will sort things out, and Osei will be able to take a breather.
Kurt and Reza’s friendship should not be overlooked. Reza has shown wrath and animosity towards Kurt throughout the second season, possibly due to an inferiority issue. Reza’s panic attacks are not explained in the second season, despite the fact that the problem is solved towards the end. Authors can build new mysteries based on the character’s popularity – the possibilities are endless.
