Winston George Murder: What Happened To Him?

In June 2008, cops hurried to the George residence after receiving a scary 911 call about a home invasion in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

When Darlene George and her son, Giovanni Whiteman, recovered safely, her husband, Winston George, was slain in the basement. ‘Home Invasion Murder’ on Investigation Discovery dives into the nefarious scheme to kill Winston, with Darlene at the center.

How Did Winston George Die?

Winston George was born and raised in Trinidad & Tobago. He relocated to New York to live with his siblings in his twenties. Winston did well thereby working on various renovation projects.

In 1995, he met Darlene Whiteman, a 29-year-old divorcee, and single mother. They were married in 2002 and finally relocated to Maine to begin a new chapter in their lives.

On June 20, 2008, shortly after 5 a.m., Darlene contacted 911 to report a home invasion in which she and her 13-year-old son, Giovanni, were detained.

Darlene said Winston was also in the house but didn’t know where. The authorities secured the property before discovering Winston dead in the basement.

The 45-year-old had been hogtied and asphyxiated to death. A plastic bag was wrapped around his head, and a bottle of rum was pushed down his mouth.

They tied the two up and put them in a bedroom. Giovanni also provided a similar account of what happened that night. After that, Winston came home, and Giovanni said he heard fighting and his stepfather praying.

According to the show, Winston’s automobile was missing from the house. It was eventually traced to a local restaurant, where officials discovered two males got out of the car and left in a cab.

The police confirmed, via the cab driver, that the males went to a bus station in Portland, Maine, and boarded a bus bound for Boston, Massachusetts. The names of two males associated with Darlene were then extracted from the passenger manifest: Jeffrey Williams and Rennie Cassimy.

Jeffrey, Darlene’s brother, had a lengthy criminal history, including robbery and attempted robbery. Rennie was Georges’s tenant. They owned property in New York and Maine, and Rennie resided in one of the New York apartments.

When the authorities interrogated him, a bleak picture began to emerge. Rennie said that he and Darlene had been having an affair for over a decade and that she was aware of her husband’s extramarital experience.

According to Rennie, Darlene planned to kill Winston because of the affair and because she didn’t want to give up possession of their homes in the event of a divorce.

The plan to murder Winston emerged a week before the crime when Darlene visited Brooklyn, New York. Jeffrey was also present with them at the time. Rennie added that she even paid for their transportation and discussed binding herself and Giovanni and conducting a house invasion.
