Sloane Stephens and her fiancé Jozy Altidore are married.
The tennis player and soccer player married on Saturday, January 1 at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami Beach, Florida, after announcing their engagement in April 2019.
The bride, 28, said “I do” to Altidore, 32, in a handcrafted, beaded Galia Lahav couture gown with a Maria Elena headpiece and Peter Marco diamonds. Schacle Powell created her updo, and Tia Codrington did her bridal makeup. Christopher Bailey was Altidore’s wedding day barber.
Cerca Creative planned the event and flowers. Stanley Babb of Stanlo Photography and videographer Bridges Cinema captured the moment the pair exchanged Peter Marco rings under palm trees and beneath a mirrored archway.
Guests must be vaccinated entirely, self-tested at home using Lucira PCR tests provided by NURX before arriving in Florida, and PCR testing on the morning of the wedding. The St. Regis catered for the event and made the couple’s wedding cake.
Even those not physically present were included, as the pair designated a spot for those they had lost, including Stephens’ grandparents, who d!ed in early 2021 due to COVID-19.
Zola developed the bride and groom’s gorgeous and classic wedding stationery, hosting the couple’s website and registration.
They’ve had difficulty planning their wedding together because of “all of the variables out of our control,” Stephens says.
“I sympathize with all the COVID couples out there who have had to make difficult decisions while dealing with an ever-changing pandemic,” Stephens adds. “We’ve all had to be super flexible, and I appreciate how accommodating our loved ones have been in making sure we have as safe and special a day as possible.”
Nonetheless, Altidore sees a silver lining in the lengthy preparation process: “I’ve loved reflecting on all of the moments that culminated to this day and how we’ve arrived at this life-changing moment.” Going down memory lane and revisiting all the events that led us to this point in our lives has been really sentimental. It’s made me fall back in love with Sloane.”

Sloane, the 2017 US Open champion, says she is a natural planner and “very detail-oriented,” so witnessing her vision come to fruition at St. Regis was a dream come true. Nonetheless, she claims that no one component of their wedding stood out above the rest.
In fact, in the days preceding the wedding, the couple hosted several events, including a tennis competition (which they describe as “crazy competitive,” a crawfish boil and wine tasting, and a beach picnic).
Still, Altidore, who plays for Toronto FC, was most excited to see his now-wife walk down the aisle.
“It’s one of those moments that I know will live in my mind forever and that time will stand still when I see her,” he says.

When asked what they most looked forward to about marriage, Altidore simply stated, “Just being with my best friend every day.” What could be better than that?” Stephens agrees, saying she feels “the same way.”
“We both have incredible, crazy jobs and lives and knowing that through it all, we have each other as our constant and true home base is such a comforting feeling,” Stephens exclaims.
And their great affection for each other will only become more robust.
“She has such a big heart and empathy for everyone,” Altidore says, adding that “she amazes me every single day.”
Of course, the feeling is mutual. “He loves his son so much and gives so selflessly,” Stephens says of Altidore when he’s parenting his son from a prior relationship. Jozy and I have known one other since we were children, but seeing him grow as a father has shown me what it would be like to spend eternity with him.”
